God's Rest

Together In Christ                                                                             Holy Prayer House

God's Rest

When your fathers tested Me; They tried Me, though they saw My work. For forty years I was grieved with that generation, And said, ‘It is a people who go astray in their hearts, And they do not know My ways.  ’So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.’ Psalm 95:9-11

There is a “Rest” from the Lord. Leaning upon the bosom of the Lord like a child, at any time and for everything.

The days, we live are filled with stress, strain and anxieties. We feel restless over things happening in our lives, start murmuring, and feel depressed or unhappy. We say that we are broken and we break people around us with our actions and speech.

Is this the life the Lord has promised us? Definitely not. Lord wants us to be in  perfect peace all the time; that is God’s rest. Even true practicing Christians are missing out on this great blessing in their lives.

Let us take the example of Israelites; they praised God, when every marvelous thing happened around. And started murmuring, when they passed through tough times. The bible says that Lord was not pleased with them, because they have not trusted Him. It is a lesson for us too. Trust the Lord with all your heart and pour out your heart to him, then the peace unspeakable will fill your hearts and fill your minds.

Words to remember: “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.” Isaiah 26:3
“Be anxious for nothing but in everything  by prayer and supplication with thanks giving , let your requests be made known to God ; and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding  will guard your hearts and minds  through Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:6 ,7

Whatever may be the situation, we are going through, always remember God is in control. We will not be able to do anything with our own strength. If you are walking through a crooked path, don't complain, but just trust the Lord, who can make every crooked path straight.

My Friend, Are you enjoying the “Rest” from the Lord; at all the times.

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” Mathew 11:28.

Prayer that Bring Answers

Together In Christ                                                                                                                                     Holy Prayer House
Prayer that Bring Answers
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. John 15:7

Jesus said…
“Oftentimes men pray to the Father in My name, but do not abide in Me, that is, they take My name into their mouths and on their lips, but not into their hearts and lives. That is the reason why they do not obtain what they pray for.

But when I abide in them and they in Me, then whatever they ask from the Father they receive, because they pray under the direction of the Holy Spirit in that condition. The Holy Spirit shows them what will glorify the Father and be best for themselves and for others.

Otherwise they will get such an answer as a bad son got from a governor whom his father had served with great courage and honor. When the son presented a petition in his father's name and asked for some employment and favor, the governor pointed out to him his evil life and habits, and said, "Do not petition me in your father's name, but first go and act according to his example. Let his high worth be not on your lips only, but carry it into your life, and then your petition will be accepted."

Excerpts from “The Master’s Feet” by Sadhu Sundar Singh

Prayer: Lord, help us to abide in you and act according to your example. Let your high worth be not on our lips only, but carry it into our life. And then our petition will be accepted, and our prayers are heard and answered by you. Amen.

We are Special People

Together In Christ                                                                                                                                     Holy Prayer House
We are Special People
For how then will it be known that your people and I have found grace in your sight, except you go with us? So we shall be separate, your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth.” Exodus 33:16

We are special people, not because we are from special race, not because of our education or wealth; we are special, because the Lord is with us. How far, we understood this, and excited about this; like Moses. Bible says, we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession; (1Peter 2:9). The Immanuel, who is always with us (Matthew 1:23), as we are His own children.

We are relaxing in aeroplane, though, we don’t know the pilot, we are relaxing in the bus, though, we don’t know the driver; why don’t we relax in our life, while we know that the Lord, who is with us, controls everything in our life.

The Bible says, Cast all your care upon Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).

The Lord Jehovah Jireh, (who provides) is with us.  The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing (Psalms 34:10). And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? (Romans 8:32)

The Lord Jehovah Sabaoth (The Lord of Hosts) who protects is with us.  The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge (Psalm 46:11). He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul (Psalms 121).

The Lord who listens to our prayers is always with us.  For what great nation is there that has God so near to it, as the Lord our God is to us, for whatever reason we may call upon Him? (Deuteronomy 4:7).

The Lord Jehovah Rapha (The Lord That Heals) who heals, removes all our sickness, is with us. … For I am the Lord who heals you (Exodus 15:26).   …And by His stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5)
The Lord Jehovah Shalom (The Lord Is Peace) is with us. The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace. (Numbers 6:26)  Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (John 14:27)
The Lord Jehovah-Raah (The Lord My Shepherd) who leads, is with us.  He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters (Psalm 23:2). I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with my eye (Psalms 32:8).

One old song is flashing in my memory. “When my Lord is alive, what I lack in my life”. My friends, Our Lord is alive. The Lord, who is with you, is alive, Loving, Powerful and caring. Cheer up.

So you are special…
Excerpts from the sermon preached at HPH.

Prayer: Lord, I am your child. I understand the truth that I am special, as you are with me.  I would rejoice in you today. Amen.

Confidently Seeking the Lord

Confidently Seeking the Lord
(Message preached by Bro. Ravi Jesupaul on 11 January 2015 in the Morning English service at Holy Prayer House)
Hebrews 11:6 says, And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
This verse is often spoken of as a promise for non-believers. But, we, believers fail to realize that it equally relates to us. What is faith? As we read in Hebrews 11:1, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. We miss out on some of God’s blessings, because we sometimes lack this faith.
Emphasizing this, Jesus said in Matthew 17:20, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” Our problems might not be as big as mountains.
But, the word says that if we have simple, humble faith, as small as a mustard seed, we can make impossible things happen. We think that we have faith, in realty; we couldn’t believe the above said verse.
Here are a few things to remind ourselves about who God is and how he rewards those who seek Him:
1.     Believe that the Lord is alive
I am the living one, I was dead; and, behold; I am alive forever and ever. – Revelation 1:18
During one very difficult period, Martin Luther was carrying many burdens and fighting many battles. Usually jolly and smiling, he was instead depressed and worried. His wife, Katherine endured this for days. One day, she met him at the door wearing a black mourning dress.
"Who died?" Luther asked.
"God," said Katherine.
"You foolish thing!" said Luther. "Why this foolishness!".
"It is true," she persisted. "God must have died, or Doctor Luther would not be so sorrowful."
Her therapy worked, and Luther snapped out of his depression.
Paul also mentioned in I Corinthians 15: 14 – and if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty.”
How is your faith my friend? Is it empty?  You may shout, “Oh my Lord is alive, I believe”. Is he alive in ALL circumstances for you?
That determines, whether your faith is empty or full.
2.     He is close to you

The Bible says in Deuteronomy 4:7 “For what great nation is there that has God so near to it, as the Lord our God is to us, for whatever reason we may call upon Him?

Here is an example in George Muller’s life for us to learn:
George Muller was on the way to Quebec, Canada for preaching, in a ship called “S.S. Sardinian“. It was a Wednesday; the ship was stopped in between in the Newfoundland Sea. George Muller approached the Captain Dutton, who was the captain of the ship.

‘Captain’, Muller said, 'I have come to tell you that I must be In Quebec on Saturday afternoon.' But the captain answered "'It is impossible, Mr. Muller'.

Muller said immediately, "'Very well, if your ship can't take me, God will find some other means of locomotion to take me. I have never broken an engagement in fifty-two years. "'Let us go down to the chart-room and pray.'

The Captain looked at that man of God, and thought to himself, what lunatic asylum could that man have come from.  Captain said to Muller "'Mr. Müller,', 'do you know how dense the fog is?'

"'No, my eye is not on the density of the fog Captain, but on the Living God, who controls every circumstance of my life.' Müller replied.

He got down on his knees and prayed one of the most simple prayers. That would suit a children's class, where the children were not more than eight or nine years old.'

Lord, our God, We thank you that you command the winds, the waves, and even this fog. We rejoice that our times and our circumstances are in your hand. Now, Father, in the glorious name of our saviour, you will make it possible for us to reach Quebec by Saturday afternoon. That your name will be glorified, Amen'. Müller completed his prayer.

When he finished. The captain was going to pray, but he put his hand on captain’s shoulder and said not to pray. "First, you do not believe He will; and second. I believe He has. And there is no need whatever for you to pray about it.' George Müller said.

"'Captain. I have known my Lord for fifty-two years, and there is not even a single day that the King has not graciously given me an audience. Get up, captain, and open the door, and you will find the fog is gone.' George Müller said. The captain got up, and the fog was gone!

In Saturday afternoon, George Müller was there on time at Quebec."

You tell that to some people of a scientific turn of mind, and they will say, 'That is not according to natural laws.' No, it is according to spiritual laws. The God with whom we have to do is omnipotent. Hold on to God's omnipotence. Ask believingly, he is standing just in front of you.

Friends, Are you confident that you are getting an audience from the King of Kings, every time,  you are seeking his face. Many say, Yes, I am praying. However, are you praying with the confidence that your Lord is listening to you.
The Bible is asking a question. Which nation (People) are having such a God like ours, are close to you whenever you pray, whatever reason you may call upon him.
Many do not have this faith. You know what the reason is. The Bible says…
Yes, “The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit.” Psalm 34:18
If you are going to the Lord with the broken heart and contrite spirit, My friend, be assured, you have been given an audience by the King of Kings.
3.     He is Powerful God
Paul says, “And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” in 1 Corinthians 2: 4, 5.
As Paul has said to the Corinthians, the same applies to us today. We should not rely on human wisdom for any of our circumstances. Our God is a God of impossibilities. The Doctors may give a hopeless situation. The world may say, that is end of your hope. But, the power of God can turn anything upside down. Human intelligent, reasoning or being intellectuals will all be crushed in the sight of God. The Power of God alone prevails.
The Power of God is keeping us by our faith on Jesus, our Lord and saviour. Do you believe this my Friend?
4.     Seek the Lord with all your heart
“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord.   Jeremiah 29:13, 14
“But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.” Deuteronomy 4:29
Half-heartedness would bring dis-belief in to your life. I would say, shut your ears to the worldly advices (disturbances).
Seek the Lord with all your heart. Surrender all. Say, “I am helpless Lord”. Lord will be your help, and your strength.
Seek the Lord; yes, seek his strength And seek his face untiringly. 1 Chronicles 16:11
Don’t lose your heart, seek His face untiringly.
5.     Prayer Answering God
Hebrews 11:6 says, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly (diligently) seek him.”
Lord Jesus said, until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. John 16:2
Ask the Lord God Father, in His name “Jesus”. This is one great favour through Lord Jesus.
John 16:23 says, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you.”
Believe my friend, Lord God our Father, will give you whatever, how difficult it could be, how challenging your situation could be, how serious your health could be today. Doesn't, matter what, He will give you, since you ask in HIS HOLY NAME JESUS.
Finally, before I complete, let me tell my witness.
My Son went into in comma, when he was three days old. A medicine became poison to him and started killing his organs one by one. Movement in the body, sensation of his body, Vocal cards, digestive systems …. All failed in a moment of time. His left lung collapsed and right one started to die. His brain losing its life hour by hour. His heart alone was functioning.  The Doctors tried their best for three days and finally said, impossible to revive the child. “He would die in a moment of time, even if he is alive, he would be a spastic child as the brain is giving up” the Doctors concluded.
When human wisdom had given up, we had no other go. I sought the face of the Lord on that day, when few hours were left out. I climbed to the top most floor of the hospital and knelt in a corner. Tears were flowing out my eyes.
I cried to the Lord Jesus, “Lord, Where are you. Come down and help me now”. I repeated this twice with tears.
All of sudden, I was attacked by a force and surrounded by a fire. I could see, Lord Jesus came down in person and laid His hand on my head. I was shouting with loud voice “This is Power of God, This is Power of God”. I started speaking in different languages.
The Lord Jesus himself anointed me, when my son was in deathbed in that Hospital.
When the Lord was about to take his hand from my head, I cried to him “Lord, Don’t leave me”.
Oh, we do have such a Loving God Jesus, my Friend. He laid his hand once again. I was with the Lord Jesus for more than two hours and this has repeated for many times, until I lost my physical strength and fell down in the floor.
When I woke up from the floor, the Lord Jesus left the place and the heavenly fire has gone. There was a powerful presence of God.  I forgot all about by son and nothing from the world came to my mind. I have met my God, Lord Jesus.
After some time, I came down to the ICU in the ground floor, where my son was. All my relatives were standing there and they all ran to me and said, “It’s a miracle, Lord healed your Son”.
You know what has happened. When the nurse was attending him, the boy woke up, as if he was in a deep sleep, and starting crying and was pulling all the wires and tubes attached to him. Everything started working. Doctors surrounded the boy and did all their testing. They could not identify, even a single symptom to believe, what had been happening for the three days and could not prove the necessity of their treatment.
Human wisdom will not have any value, when the Power of God is at work. My son is 21 years now. We named him as “Gift”.  THE LORD JESUS IS ALIVE and POWERFUL.
When you come to God,
Believe that He is alive.
Believe that He is powerful.
Believe that he is a prayer answering God.

Don’t look at your problem, rather seek the Living God, who controls every circumstance of your life.
Approach the Lord with a Brocken heart and contrite spirit.  Seek the Lord whole-heartedly.
When you pray, Don’t forget to believe that the King of Kings is giving you an audience.
Believe, the Lord Father would will give it to you, since you are asking in the name of the Son, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Nothing is impossible for God. Seek the Lord Confidently.

Act of Reconciliation on the Cross
Bro. Ravi Jesupaul
The great man of God, Bakht Singh, was once asked what aspect of the gospel he stressed when preaching to those of other faiths. Did he preach the love of God? He replied, “No. The human mind is so polluted that if you talk about love it immediately thinks of sex.” Did he talk about the wrath of God? “No. Indians believe that all the gods are angry. An extra one makes no difference.” He was then asked what his main message was. “I preach the forgiveness of sins. That is what all of us deep down inside are longing for.”

Forgiving is the kernel of Christianity and unique to Lord Jesus Christ. Our Lord has not, just forgiven our sins; He has forgotten all our iniquities, sins, short comings, insincerities (Psalm 103:12, Isaiah 38:17) and made us reconciled with the Lord Almighty.

The Bible says, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God, by the death of his Son. (Romans 5:10)

The reconciliation through Jesus can be viewed in three dimensions.

The first dimension is upward, Reconciliation with God.

The Bible says, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross. And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight. Colossians 1:20, 21, 22

We were definitely enemies for God earlier. Without Holiness, no one can see God (Hebrews 12:14). Lord Jesus reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you and I holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight. What a privilege to be a child of God.

Having no reconciliation experience with God through Jesus Christ, we have no portion with God. We will be left out, when the Lord comes as King in the sky.

Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little.
Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him. Psalms 2:12

Anyone in this morning, who has not reconciled with God, Jesus is calling you. How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation Hebrews 2:3.

The second dimension is horizontal. Reconciliation with man.

Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Mathew 5:23, 24.

Cross is always in two directions. One is upwards with God and another is horizontal with men.

Here are some of Paul’s valuable instructions to the us. And be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32

Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. Colossians 3:13

Lord’s Prayer says, And forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. Mathew: 6:12. Jesus continued in 14th word, If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. 15th But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. Hebrews 12:14

One of the pretty serious commands, eventually, many Christians don’t have knowledge about this, OR, they don’t take it serious.

Many says, I have already forgiven the sins against me, But I could not forget those sins. You know, how much I was wounded, how much I suffered loss.

Reconciliation is not just forgiving the sins which others committed against us and also forgetting them. As if they have not done anything against us. This is what Lord has done for us.

In Mathew 18, Peter came to Lord and asked an interesting question. “21Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times 22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven. Lord therefore, narrated an interesting story.

A certain servant borrowed Ten Thousands Talents from the King. According to Answers.com, this sum is equivalent to Two Hundred Fifty Million dollars US (250 M$ ~ Rs. 1250 Cr). King asked the servant to repay back the money. When he couldn’t pay back the debt, the servant therefore fell down before him, saying, ‘Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all. Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt. The servant would have been very happy indeed.

On the way back home, the same servant found one of his fellow servants who owed him only hundred denarii. According to Answers.com, this sum is equivalent to just two thousand dollars US (2000$ ~ 1 Lakh). And he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, ‘Pay me what you owe!’. So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay you all. And he would not, but went and threw him into prison till he should pay the debt.

So when his fellow servants saw what had been done, they were very grieved, and came and told their master all that had been done. Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt (of 250 M$), because you begged me. Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you? And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.

Lord cancelled all the sins of us, as the King did for his servant. Lord expects the same fair treatment between fellow men too, from us. If not, the bible says, God will not forgive our sins too.

In Luke 17, Lord said “Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him. “

And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you. Luke 17:3-6

The disciples asked the Lord to increase their faith to forgive the brother. Is it unbelievable? But it’s true. Many people are having bitterness, grudges, unhealed wounds, revenging rage, as sycamine tree, against their brothers in their hearts.
It’s the time to ask the Lord to increase our faith to pluck out the bitter tree out of our hearts. This tree of bitterness is blocking the blessings in many lives. Many become sick and some even slept (I Corinthians 11:27-31), as they are insulting the Body of Christ with their unworthiness, to be one in the body of Christ, while they are partaking in the Holy Communion without reconciling with fellow brothers.

In particular, oneness should be maintained at home between the husband & wife, at any cost. Few Christian couples are maintaining outward Christian life, without proper peace with the spouse. It’s nothing but dichotomy. They are “having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof” (II Timothy 3:5). I would sincerely advice the Christian couples to have perfect peace at home. Lord can stay in the home, where there is peace and perfect cohesion.

Let us take this command very serious. Let us forgive others and reconcile with them, so that the Lord can do the same for us.

The third dimension is in “Z” direction, Reconciling the society with God.

The Paul says in II Corinthians 5, 17Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

The effective ministry of reconciliation is through Prayer. Our Lord Jesus Christ was enduring the pains of crucifixion; the executioners had just then driven the nails through His hands and feet. He must have been, moreover, brought into a condition of extreme weakness by the agony of the night in Gethsemane, and by the scourging and cruel mocking, which He had endured all through the morning. Yet neither the weakness of the past, nor the pain of the present, could prevent Him from continuing in prayer. Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. Luke 23:34.

The Lamb of God was silent to men, but He was not silent to God. Dumb as a sheep before her shearers, but He continues in His heart crying unto His Father, and no pain and no weakness can silence His holy supplications. What an example our Lord herein sets to us!

As ambassadors for Christ, we are called to stand in the gap between the God and the people. See many God’s servants in the bible; like Abraham, Moses, Nehemiah, Ezra, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel. They were all standing in the Gap, pleading unto the Lord to forgive the sins of the people and the nation.

Have you ever had an experience of pleading to the Lord to forgive the sins of people? Has anything happened in your city and your country affected you and made you to cry out to the Lord to forgive them.

Let us continue in prayer so long as our heart beats.

Secondly, The Lord has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore (plead) you (gentiles) you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.

Using the word of reconciliation, Is not our responsibility to plead unto the people, on behalf of Jesus, to reconcile with God. Is not this ministry entrusted on every one of us?

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” Romans 10:14,15

Friends, “Reconciliation” what powerful word.

If not the reconciliation with God, I have no hope of reaching God.
If not the reconciliation with men, I have no hope of forgiveness by Lord.
If not the reconciling with God, people have no hope of eternity.
